This website has been getting spruced up and updated for 2017.

After putting the site together in 2009, I kind of left it dormant. Consqeuently some of the older questions have drifted out of date or become less-relevant.

Having said that, a lot of them are still perfectly good questions. See disclaimer for guidance.

Anyway, I'm making the site a priority again so look out for lots of new questions.

For a while now, I've been running a group for quizmasters over on Facebook.

I found this page on Wikipedia yesterday which is a handy reference for checking older questions.

Countries have a habit of changing their names and their capitals and quizmasters need to be on top of the ever-changing situation.

The page on Wiki is titled Timeline of Country and Capital Changes and deals with changes from recent times and further into the past.

Remember, there's no such thing as the Upper Volta nowadays!

12 Yard have a new quiz show coming soon. Auditions in Glasgow on July 9th so get your application form in now.

The idea of the show is that you play with a family member of a different generation. The older player answers first to build up the cash and the younger one then has to answer questions to win or lose the money. It has a working title  "DON’T BLOW THE INHERITANCE". Nice!

I've been getting into the habit of going past Wikipedia and going to the source and now I've got a concrete example of a difference in outcomes.

The example is countries with Muslim populations. Wikipedia is (currently) telling me that India has more Muslims than Pakistan (179 vs 178 million) but if I follow the source quoted by Wiki I get to the Pew Forum which gives the figures as 178m v 177m in favour of Pakistan.

It's the Pew Forum's research and not anyone can edit it. So I trust this over Wikipedia. Perhaps an Indian Muslim perhaps changed the figure on Wiki so that his country has more muslims than Pakistan.

As it happens, the answer to the question I'm writing is Indonesia, but I thought I'd make a note here as it would be an otherwise-hard-to-spot mistake on Wikipedia and Wikipedia must be stuffed full of these types of tiny innacuracies that can derail a quiz question from its holy target of THE TRUTH!
